About Amna

Meet Amna, Senior Lead Speech and Language Therapist in London.

I’m the founder of Words & Wonders, a Senior Lead Speech and Language Therapist, and a proud mum of two.

Thank you for taking the time to visit Words & Wonders.

If you’re here, you may be looking for answers, reassurance or the right support for your child. Taking that first step can sometimes feel overwhelming, so I want Words & Wonders to feel like a place where you can ask questions, feel listened to and find support without judgement.

After 17 years of working with children and families, I founded Words & Wonders with a simple vision: to create a practice where expert, evidence-informed Speech and Language Therapy is delivered with warmth, kindness and genuine partnership.

Throughout my career, I’ve supported hundreds of children with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs across health, education and independent settings.

Alongside Words & Wonders, I work as a Senior Lead Speech and Language Therapist at a renowned clinic in Central London, where I continue to lead and support clinical services.

WHY WORDS & WONDERS

Where words grow and confidence follows.

Founded on 17+ Years of experience

I chose the name Words & Wonders because I wanted it to reflect the two things at the heart of my practice: communication and childhood.

“Words” represents the many ways children communicate, express themselves and connect with the people around them.

“Wonders” reflects children’s curiosity, imagination and individuality — the little things that make each child who they are.

Together, Words & Wonders represents my belief that communication should be nurtured in a way that celebrates the whole child.

Where words grow and confidence follows.

Every child has something to say

Communication is about so much more than words.

It can be talking, listening, understanding, playing, using gestures or signs, sharing ideas, connecting with others and expressing how we feel.

I don’t believe there is one right way for a child to communicate. My role is to understand how each child communicates, what they are finding difficult and what will help them feel more confident expressing themselves and connecting with others

Experience you can trust

I’ve supported children with a range of communication needs, including:
Speech Sound Disorders
Language Delay and Language Disorder
Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)
Stammering and Fluency Difficulties
Social Communication and Pragmatic Language Difficulties

Supporting children, families and the profession

My work extends beyond direct clinical practice.

I’ve work as a clinical supervisor, including supporting and signing off newly qualified practitioners, and have taught undergraduate Speech and Language Therapy students.

I was also part of a pioneering team that helped develop the first BSc Speech and Language Therapy programme in Pakistan.

These experiences have strengthened my passion for supporting the development of Speech and Language Therapy, both within clinical practice and through education.

Therapy that feels like them

I want children to enjoy coming to therapy.

Sessions are shaped around each child’s interests, strengths and goals, creating opportunities to learn in ways that feel engaging and meaningful.

Sometimes that might be a game, story, favourite toy or imaginative adventure. Sometimes it might be a more structured activity to work on a particular skill.

It might look like play. But every interaction has a purpose.

My aim is to make therapy purposeful while giving children the space to be themselves.

“We loved our experience working with Words & Wonders! Their team of expert speech and language therapists created a bond with our children and made them feel comfortable. We noticed significant improvements immediately in our kids dealing with speech challenges after a few sessions.”

Choosing the right therapist

Choosing a therapist for your child is an important decision.

You may know exactly what support you’re looking for, or you may simply have a feeling that something isn’t quite right. Either way, you don’t need to have all the answers before getting in touch.
